Familiar, yet Forgotten Mobile Brands Fighting for 1st Place

The mobile technology market is highly competitive and the dynamics of the industry are changing very quickly. From Nokia and Motorola’s dominance 10 years ago to BlackBerry’s big fad that happened just 3-5 years ago, their shareholder value and market share have plunged since. But just because Apple and Samsung are currently locked in a  dominant fight for first place, it does not mean a comeback for other companies isn’t possible.

Like I said, the mobile market is very dynamic and both BlackBerry, Nokia and Microsoft wants to come back with a fight. They aren’t coming back to settle for 3rd or 4th place, they are also contending to be number one!

Windows Phone 8 – Large Tiles could be its Biggest Advantage

Even if you love your Android or iOS smartphone, and you think the operating system os perfect for you, they are not necessarily the right fit for everyone. People have preferences among operating systems and there is a good reason for that – choice. There are still viable reasons for users to choose alternative platforms like Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8 and even the up and coming BlackBerry 10 OS. Although these options lack in App support, they are still fast, fresh and fun!

Innovative one-handed Windows 8 keyboard design

According to WMpoweruser, Microsoft may be coming out with a one-handed, arc keyboard design for their Windows 8 Mobile platform. For those of you with full touch-screen devices, you probably have noticed that it is quite hard to type messages one-handed with your phone. This new design is reminiscent of the old T9 style of typing, as the picture seems to indicate a requirement of a multiple button taps to complete a word.

What do you think; would you use this new style from Microsoft?

thegadgetsite logo

The demand for smartphones is accelerating as average consumers are looking to quickly connect to people anywhere and anytime. However, these powerful devices don’t always come cheap. The iPhone 4S, for one, easily costs $649 right off the shelf while the Samsung Galaxy SII for $599. That is why I would like to introduce to you two great budget-friendly alternatives that can still provide an enjoyable experience to camera capture, web browsing, emailing, connecting on social media and playing games. Yet, these two devices are half the price of the two popular smartphones. Despite the low price, these are not dumb-downed smartphones with really laggy user interfaces like some of the other phones in the same price range. These two devices might just change your mind.

Apple co-founder loves his Lumia

Steve Wozniak, Apple’s co-founder, was happy to share that he loves his Lumia. He went on and on about how intuitive the interface is and how the apps flow perfectly. Furthermore, he states that there’s nothing he’s seen that isn’t more beautiful on the Windows system, but he claims that Android is “no contest” on the interface. He admits he’s not a fan of the Windows voice control function, but the rest is definitely there. However, he admits that his default phone is still the iPhone, and it’s 2 of them.

Nokia PureView imaging technology coming to Windows Phones unsurprisingly

Well, did you like the Nokia PureView 808? We sure did, except not the OS. The times for Symbian has been long gone, and yet Nokia still demo’s its new PureView imaging technology on a Symbian device when it has announced it’s going “all-in” on Windows Phone. However, Nokia Senior VP Jo Harlow assured that this technology will make it to Windows Phone “not too far from now”. Now, that sounds better as Windows Phone are Nokia’s new flagships.
