Windows 8 officially shown at Computex, can you hold the excitement?

Windows 8 Nvidia Tablet PrototypeMicrosoft has shown several ARM and x86 based prototypes running Windows 8 at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan. Microsoft chief executive Michael Angiulo showed during the presentation several Laptops and Tablets, mostly from Nvidia. The Nvidia ones were based on the Kal-El quad-core SOC, which will be released later this year. Prototypes based on processors from Qualcomm and Texas Instruments were also shown. A few x86 based prototypes running Windows 8 were also shown, including ones from HP and Sony. Microsoft says that Windows 8 is not ‘heavier’ than Windows 7, which means it can also run on older hardware. However, there are strict requirements for new systems: the screen resolution has to be at least 1366×768 pixels, the edges of touchscreens should also be able to register touches and UEFI BIOS must be available. Booting takes with an UEFI BIOS and SSD less than 7 seconds.
