Meizu has officially announced the MX smartphone, after many rumors and leaks from various media. According to official specifications, most of the rumors were correct: the Meizu MX has a 4-inch screen, with a resolution of 960×640 pixels; it’s powered by a Samsung Exynos 4210 dual-core SOC, clocking in at 1.4GHz; there’s 1GB of RAM and a 16GB storage on-board. However, the phone uses a micro-sim, which may cause some trouble for users. Onboard is Meizu’s Flyme OS, which is a heavily modified version of Android Gingerbread. The Meizu MX will be released on January 1st, 2012 and will cost 2999CNY (€355 and 475USD). Are you getting one?

Pandigital Supernova is an e-book reader running Android
Pandigital Supernova is a 8-inch LCD tablet with a price of $230 USD. For that price, it comes with a Gingerbread Android OS, 1GHz A8 CPU, 4GB of storage supporting up to 32GB of additional storage via microSD, WiFi and Bluetooth. The Pandigital Supernova comes preloaded with certain apps, such as GetJar and Barns & Noble’s Nook app. Overall, this Android e-book reader does not seem all too interesting.
Huawei officially announces Honor 4-inch Android smartphone
Last time we wrote about the Huawei Honor was in October, and at that time, we already knew it was coming with a 854 x 480 4-inch screen and a 1.4GHz CPU. Now, the company has officially announced the device, which means we can give you the other specifications such as 512MB of RAM (expandable to 32GB), a juice-up 1900mAh battery, a thickness of 10.9mm and support for bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 /1900 and the WCDMA/HSPA+ 900 / AWS / 2100. What’s more, this Gingerbread smartphone also gets a camera upgrade at 8 megapixels (with an additional 2 megapixel front-facing camera), up from the 5 megapixels we previously thought. Huawei Honor is DLNA-certified and is being released in Asia-Pacific, China, Russia, and the Middle East in Q4 2011, which is really soon. Huawei is supposedly working on different colorways and brining their honorable smartphone to other markets before Christmas.
Samsung Galaxy S Glide(s) for Canada’s icy holidays
We know Rogers will soon launch the Samsung Galaxy S II LTE as its flagship device, but here comes another one from Samsung: the Galaxy S Glide. This Android device packs a “4-row slide out QWERTY keyboard” is thicker than the Infuse 4G. Also, this 4-inch Super AMOLED comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 8 megapizel camera with a 1.2 front camera. Although it’s not quite as powerful as it’s LTE brother, this will suit most of the consumers well in Canada as not everyone requires the power of the Galaxy S II. There’s no price on this yet, but let’s hope it’ll be able to glide through Canada’s Winters successfully.
Sony NW-Z1000 the iPod Touch’s worst fear

Still hot from the oven, the new Sony NW-Z1000 is a mp3 player with Android 2.3 Gingerbread that is sure to pack a punch against the iPod Touch.
The unit features a 4.3″ 480×800 display and is powered by the roaring Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU @ 1 GHz and 512 MB RAM. BAM!
The Sony Z1000 will start shipping to Japanese customers in October; the rest of us will have to wait until December. It comes in three flavours from 16, 32 to 64 GB storage; and in red, blue or purple. Prices start at approx €269 ($365).
Sony Ericsson finally bakes Gingerbread for the Xperia line
Sony Ericsson users can finally rejoice; at least the Xperia ones can. Sony Ericsson has announced that they have heard the “ding” from their oven and a new batch of Gingerbread is ready to be served to the Xperia line starting October. In this 2.3.4 update there are OEM enhancements, deeper Facebook integration that will allow sharing of app discoveries, and “3D sweep panorama technology” for self-portraits on 3DTVs. There’s also native screenshot function and Google Talk with Video Chat. The Neo V will be served the Gingerbread first but previous Xperia devices will eventually get the yummy Gingerbread, hopefully before Santa eats it all.
European HTC Evo 3D officially announced
HTC has officially announced the European version of the Evo 3D. It has an autostereoscopic 3D screen, much like the American version. This means you don’t have to use 3D glasses. Users can shoot 3D videos with the dual rear camera , with maximum resolution of 720P and 30 frames per second. The videos are saved in MPO file format, and can be watched back on the qHD screen in 3D. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8260 Scorpion SOC, which runs on 1.2GHz. This is the same SOC as the HTC Sensation. The HTC Evo 3D runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. The battery is a 1730mAh model, which higher than older HTC phones. There’re some differences with the American Evo 3D: the American version has a different SOC, some exterior differences and no SIM-card slot. It will be released in August an will cost €599 (855USD).
Huawei Sonic in development, cheapest smartphone with NFC yet
Huawei is developing a cheap Android smartphone with support for near field communication. It has the Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU, which is clocked at 600MHz and is also found in the ZTE Blade and HTC Wildfire S. The Huawei Sonic has a 3.5 inch screen with a resolution of 480×320 pixels. It’s powered by Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. This makes that it has the specifications of a low-end to mid-end device. The Sonic is the first smartphone in this price range to feature NFC. Google recently announced Google Wallet, an Android app which can be used to do mobile payments over NFC. The Google Nexus S was the first Android phone to use NFC. The Huawei Sonic will be available at the Spanish provider Yoigo and the Turkish provider Turkcell, but it probably comes to others as well.
Samsung has sold 3 million Galaxy S II smartphones in the presale

Samsung has sold worldwide 3 million Galaxy S II smartphones by preorder. The Galaxy S II is already for sale in the United Kingdom and South Korea. We at thegadgetsite.com think it will be the same success as the original Galaxy S. The original Galaxy S was sold 200,000 times in South Korea the first week, the Galaxy S II 120,000 times. The Samsung Galaxy S II will finally be available in 120 countries. One of its most interesting specifications are the 1.2 GHz dual-core Exynos SOC and its 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen. The software is based on Android 2.3 and has Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI on top of it.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini and Mini Pro next generation smartphones announced
Sony Ericsson has just announced a new pair of Android powered smartphones – the Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, both running Gingerbread. The Xperia Mini has a 3″ scratch-resistant display with Sony’s Bravia Engine and Reality Display technology while it’s touted the world’s smallest smartphone capable of 720p HD video recording. It packs a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and the familiar Sony Ericsson customized UI with customizable shortcuts in all four corners of the screen. Battery life also seem to have increased by 30 percent thanks to a larger capacity battery. It will be available in four different color variations and it’s coming this August.
The Xperia Mini Pro also packs the same processor, display and battery but it also has a front-facing camera and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Launch is expected in Q3 this year.
