Meizu MX officially announced, the “Dream Phone” gets real

According to official specifications, most of the rumors were correct: the Meizu MX has a 4-inch screen, with a resolution of 960×640 pixels; it’s powered by a Samsung Exynos 4210 dual-core SOC, clocking in at 1.4GHz; there’s 1GB of RAM and a 16GB storage on-board. However, the phone uses a micro-sim, which may cause some trouble for users. Onboard is Meizu’s Flyme OS, which is a heavily modified version of Android Gingerbread. The Meizu MX will be released on January 1st, 2012 and will cost 2999CNY (€355 and 475USD). Are you getting one?

Samsung is developing a smartphone with 2GHz dual-core CPU. The device should be released this year, but it isn’t officially announced yet. Samsung says it has the same power as a regular desktop PC, but it’s unclear where this is based on. The processor is probably developed by Samsung themselves, and will be released in the Exynos series. The Korean manufacture has already developed a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU for their Galaxy S II smartphone. Other specifications are currently unknown. Samsung’s 2GHz smartphone will probably run on Android. Pictures are yet unavailable.


Samsung Galaxy S II is now clocked at 1.2GHz, was 1GHz first

The Estonian branch of Samsung has announced on Facebook that the clock speed of its Exynos processor has been increased from 1GHz to 1.2GHz. It’s yet unknown if this will apply to all countries. In addition, there are also rumors that Samsung is working on an alternative version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. This model would have a Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, which normally also has a clock speed of 1GHz. On the official page of the Galaxy S II only metions that it has a dual-core CPU, the speed is not specified.

The Samsung Galaxy S 2 will run on Google’s latest Gingerbread Android 2.3 with an updated TouchWiz UI, and measure only 8.49mm at its thinnest point and 9.9mm at its thickest, probably to accomodate a camera or NFC module.
