Jelly Bean update now available for AT&T Samsung Galaxy SIII

The wait is finally over! Christmas came early for those using the Samsung Galaxy SIII from AT&T because Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz is waiting for you. This update will make your phone feel new again. To install the latest update, use Kies to check for an update – for those who don’t know, this is Samsung’s proprietary software.

An over the air update (OTA) is not yet available but you at least have the option to update it using your computer.  The Jelly Bean update should enhance scrolling fluidity and frame rates with Project Butter. On the other hand, Jelly Bean adds new features like Google Now, Offline voice typing, expandable notifications and resizable pop-up play windows (TouchWiz exclusive).  Enjoy!

Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 colors and pricing revealed!

AT&T has announced pricing for Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 with an option to pre-order. The Lumia 920 goes for $450 off-contract and $100 with a 2-year contract. Meanwhile, its little brother the Lumia 820 goes for $400 off-contract and $49 with a 2-year contract.

For those who are wondering what colours AT&T offers for their Windows Phones, you’re in luck. The Lumia 820 only comes in black but the outer shell is interchangeable and shells with different colours and features can be purchased separately. Meanwhile, the Lumia 920 sure has a lot of personality to show. AT&T offers an eye-catching high-gloss red, high-gloss yellow and high-gloss white. AT&T also offers the Nokia Lumia 920 in matte black and the exclusive matte cyan.

To pre-order yours today, visit the source links below.

I’m from Canada and we don’t get the matte cyan color so I may just have to buy this from the States. Among the many colors available, we may only Nokia produced, Canada may only receive it in black and our Lumia 900 is priced higher than your Lumia 920. For Canadian carriers, please take note that we are jealous of our friends below the border not only for the nation’s refreshed leadership but also for the colours of beautiful Nokia handsets.

To be honest, I was quite surprised with the pricing. Nokia promised premium quality while vowing to keep the price low and affordable and I think they did just that.  Comparing it to the iPhone 5 or the 32 GB Samsung Galaxy S3′s $700 off-contract pricing, this is a great alternative. The only comparable smartphone with high performance would be the Nexus 4 by Google at $299 and $349.

  • HTC One X+ could feature the Tegra 3+ quad-core at 1.7 GHz

HTC One X+ could really be real just like Desire Z and Sensation XL have been real to their flagship brand from HTC. This superphone will clock the Tegra 3 or Tegra 3+ Nvidia quad-core processor at 1.7 GHz and might even be operating on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box.

AT&T’s One X has a restricted bootloader, HTC responds

HTC has been one of the companies that unlock their bootloaders on its Android devices for the consumer; however, today XDA-Developers forums and MoDaCo discovered that the AT&T HTC One X variant has a locked bootloader. Upon reaching HTC for comments, it responded with this:

HTC is committed to listening to users and delivering customer satisfaction. Since announcing our commitment to unlockable bootloaders, HTC has worked to enable our customers to unlock the bootloader on more than 45 devices over the past six months. In some cases, however, restrictions prevent certain devices from participating in our bootloader unlocking program. Rest assured, HTC is committed to assisting developers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices and we’ll continue to unlock additional devices in the future.”

Although we aren’t exactly sure what the “restrictions” are, we believe that it is one of AT&T’s policies. We don’t know for sure yet, but when more information comes up, we’ll be sure to tell you.

AT&T CEO regrets over iPhone unlimited data plans

As we all know, it’s more likely for people to not acknowledge their mistakes (ahem, Apple) than to actually admit it (Nokia). AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson today admitted that their iPhone unlimited data model was a regret for him. “My only regret was how we introduced pricing in the beginning, because how did we introduce pricing? Thirty dollars and you get all you can eat. “Every additional megabyte you use in this network, I have to invest capital.” It does seem like AT&T is shifting away from supporting Apple, and instead other ecosystems, like Windows Phone with the huge advertising budget for the Lumia 900.

Furthermore, he talks about how Apple’s iMessage is a classic example of what is disrupting AT&T’s business model; if you’re using iMessage, then you’re not using AT&T’s messaging services.

200,000 iPhone 4S pre-orders made in first 12 hours, new orders shipping in 1-2 weeks

White iPhone 4 releasedDespite all the complaints regarding the iPhone 4S, customers have been pre-ordering it in droves. During the first 12 hours of the pre-order, over 200,000 customers signed up for an AT&T iPhone 4S. We still haven’t gotten the numbers from Sprint and Verizon yet, but we can already see that Apple is having trouble keeping up with the demand, as shipping times have now been pushed back to “one to two weeks.”

Samsung Focus S in a pretty focused picture drinking juice

Two weeks ago, AT&T told us about the first three devices in its Windows Phone Mango lineup, with an Autumn release for the handsets; however, we were only given a glimpse of the Titan. Now, the leaked shot from PocketNow shows one charging, with its 4.3-inch screen and the usual three capacitive buttons and those nice curves (on the edge). We do know that the screen has a Super AMOLED Plus display and a 1.4GHz processor underneath. Although no official release date is set for this 4G phone (don’t know if it’s LTE-ready), but it should be coming out pretty soon, along with the falling of leaves.
