Nicholas Allegra, otherwise known as Comex, is the creator of the infamous and useful tool JailbreakMe (iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch jailbreak software). His creations have given Apple many problems in the past as Apple continues to prevent users from Jailbreaking their products. Starting the week of September 5th, he will join the numerous iOS engineers at 1 Infinite Loop as an intern. Nothing is too surprising, as his skills and experiences is definitely an asset for Apple; hiring someone who finds security exploits definitely help Apple fix them as fast as possible and make the platform more secure. How Apple uses Comex is unknown at the moment, but it’s not too hard to guess!

Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO
Steve Jobs has just handed in his resignation to Apple’s Board of Directors, and as of now, is no longer the CEO of Apple. In his resignation letter, he recommended that the board appoint Tim Cook as his successor, to which they agreed. According to his letter, Steve will still be involved in Apple as the Chairman of the Board and work with company strategy.
The resignation comes after three separate medical leaves done by Jobs due to pancreatic cancer, one of which involved a liver transplant in 2009, and since January this year, Jobs has been away from his day-to-day duties at Apple.
Steve writes;
To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:
I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.
I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.
I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.
Steve
Cheap 8GB iPhone 4 coming along with iPhone 5 this September
Latest rumors coming from Reuters indicate that Apple is indeed planning to release two iPhones this fall; a cheaper, 8GB version of the iPhone 4, and the iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4S). Citing “two people with knowledge of the matter,” Reuters reports that the 8GB flash memory for the new iPhone 4 is being manufactured by an unnamed Korean company.
Contrary to earlier rumors of delays, Apple is said to still be on track for a September release with their iPhone 5. Further, the iPhone 5 is said to be “largely identical” to the iPhone 4, except for a bigger touch screen, improved antenna and an 8-megapixel camera.

Apple planning to release entirely new line of Mac PCs
Japanese Apple fan site Macotakara reports that Apple is going to release an entirely new Mac line of Mac PCs, potentially before the end of this year. The new and unnamed Macs will allegedly be very different from Apple’s current Mac products. This information is said to come from an anonymous Apple supplier that, and stems from the fact that Apple is purchasing components significantly different from those used in current devices. Supposedly, this is happening at the current moment, which points to a release timeframe in a few months. Macotakara was previously correct in releasing information on the iPad 2.
Very few people know what Apple has in their pipeline, but speculation is rampant on online forums. So far, most people have guessed that the new Mac will be some kind of hybrid between a MacBook and a tablet, perhaps a MacBook with a touchscreen. Others have also suggested a significant update to Mac Pro and the iMac.
HTC sues Apple in an attempt to block the sale of their products
HTC and Apple are going at it with the full force of the law. HTC is suing Apple, claiming that Apple has infringed upon three of HTC’s patents. The patents have to do with Apple computers, iPhones, iPads, and iPods. HTC wants the importing of these products to the United States to be banned. They are also requesting money to compensate for damages to HTC as a result of Apple’s alleged patent infringement. If HTC wins this battle, the United States may be without Apple goodness for a while, as the affected products will be banned. A similar situation just happened when Apple won a suit that they filed against HTC and the affected HTC devices have been banned from the United States.
HTC has informed the media that they are willing to make negotiations with Apple and ultimately drop the case if a deal is struck.
Apple stops release of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Europe
Apple confirms that the release of Samsung’s new tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is haltered in all European countries except the Netherlands. The reason being an ongoing lawsuit about a patent infringement on Apple’s product design.
“It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s products and package design mimics Apple’s,” says an Apple spokeswoman.
A separate lawsuit is ongoing in the Netherlands, explaining why the new tablet is available there. Last week, a sale’s stop of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 took place in Australia.
HTC is facing similar lawsuits in America regarding their smartphones. A tough climate these days for any electronics manufacturer.
iCloud.com launched, take advantage of iCloud features in web browser

iCloud is getting set to go! The next major step for the new feature from Apple: launching the website. iCloud.com is now live! Developers can log into the new website with their Apple ID and view what iCloud has to offer: access to Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone, and iWork documents. Everything that syncs on iOS devices through iCloud can be accessed through iCloud.com. Changes in iCloud.com will subsequently sync back to the device. iWork documents (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) can be synced through iCloud between computers, iOS devices and iCloud.com. Check out screenshots of everything below, after the break!
Vimeo and iCloud come to Apple TV in iOS 4.3 software update
Apple has just released a firmware version 4.3 update to the Apple TV. This update adds Vimeo to the device, allowing a user to watch any video posted to Vimeo from the comfort of the television. iCloud was partially added to the Apple TV. In this update, iCloud allows users to stream movies purchased from iTunes to the Apple TV. Previously, only rented movies could be watched on an Apple TV. 4.3 also contains bug fixes and minor app updates.

White iPod touch parts leaked shortly before Apple iPod event

Apple has just been leaking all over…leaking future product info, that is. To add to the developing list of iPod touch 5th generation leaks, we now think that a white digitizer has just been leaked. The digitizer fits an iPod touch 4th generation, meaning one of two things: 1) Apple will pull a white iPhone 4 move by releasing the white iPod touch many months after the black model’s release, or 2) the 5th generation iPod touch will have the same design of the current generation and will come in a white model. We’re thinking it’s the second option because not many analysts think the 5th generation iPod will come with a design change. The 4th generation iTouch underwent a major design change that rocks!
The picture above shows the leaked digitizer assembled onto the current generation iPod touch, which is why it looks kinda weird (the home button and camera cutout are still black). But if this rumor holds true, you should see a white model of the iPod touch in upcoming months. Besides, Apple has a white model of the iPhone and iPad. It’s about time that we see a white iPod touch.
Calling Apple Support about 3G icon on iPod touch

Apple still has a picture of an iPod touch with the 3G icon on their Canadian iTunes site. I thought that I would call Apple Support and ask them about it. I acted like I was in the market to purchase an iPod touch and the picture of the iPod touch with the 3G icon confused me as to whether the iPod touch has 3G or not. Listen to the call to find out what Apple says about the picture, after the break.
