Expected refresh date for MacBook Pro: June 11

Been waiting for the new MacBook Pro refresh? Well, many are speculating that it will be released on June 11 at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Along with the date, there has been many rumours on what the refresh will bring, like Ivy Bridge processors, a 2048 x 1536 Retina Display, and a thinner profile along with SSD for quick bootups. It’s been a while since the MacBook Pro has received a significant update on form factor and functions, and since most of Apple’s other products have undergone some changes, it should be the MacBook Pro’s turn this year. Stay tuned as we bring you the most updated news and rumours of the MacBook Pro refresh!

Siri betrays her creator

With the iPhone 4S, Siri was released. Siri is your friendly assistant on your iPhone and we know that she definitely has her own personality. However, it seems like Siri doesn’t exactly like her creator, as she answered truthfully that the best cellphone is the Cyan Nokia Lumia 900. Yup, not the iPhone, and not an Android, but a Windows Phone. If Steve Jobs saw this, we’re sure he won’t be pleased, but at least it’s not Android, which Steve Jobs believes is the ultimate evil.

AT&T CEO regrets over iPhone unlimited data plans

As we all know, it’s more likely for people to not acknowledge their mistakes (ahem, Apple) than to actually admit it (Nokia). AT&T’s CEO Randall Stephenson today admitted that their iPhone unlimited data model was a regret for him. “My only regret was how we introduced pricing in the beginning, because how did we introduce pricing? Thirty dollars and you get all you can eat. “Every additional megabyte you use in this network, I have to invest capital.” It does seem like AT&T is shifting away from supporting Apple, and instead other ecosystems, like Windows Phone with the huge advertising budget for the Lumia 900.

Furthermore, he talks about how Apple’s iMessage is a classic example of what is disrupting AT&T’s business model; if you’re using iMessage, then you’re not using AT&T’s messaging services.

iPad 2 Refreshed

Planning to buy an iPad 2 soon since it’s cheaper? Well, make sure you buy the right one. Yes, there is a right one. Apple has refreshed its iPad 2 to a new 32nm processor, which is significantly smaller and more efficient than the ones in the old iPad. The model is iPad2,4. According to AnandTech, there’s an overall 16 percent increase in battery life during web browsing and as much as a 30 percent boost when playing games. This is obviously a better deal than the older models, but how are you going to find it at this moment? You can’t really, unless you buy it first and run GeekBench to figure out the mode number, and return it if it isn’t. But is it worth the hassle? You figure that out.

Apple co-founder loves his Lumia

Steve Wozniak, Apple’s co-founder, was happy to share that he loves his Lumia. He went on and on about how intuitive the interface is and how the apps flow perfectly. Furthermore, he states that there’s nothing he’s seen that isn’t more beautiful on the Windows system, but he claims that Android is “no contest” on the interface. He admits he’s not a fan of the Windows voice control function, but the rest is definitely there. However, he admits that his default phone is still the iPhone, and it’s 2 of them.

OS X Mountain Lion, the next Mac OS upgrade, will be download-only

During the last Mac OS upgrade, Apple was concerned that everyone didn’t have a good-enough internet to download a 4GB update, therefore offering a $69 USB stick with the update. However, this time around, the OS X Mountain Lion upgrade won’t be offered on a USB stick. Why? Apple believes the App Store is enough for the upgrade. Think Apple’s hinting you should upgrade your internet? We think so.

iOS 5.1 beta suggests Apple may be testing quad-core mobile CPUs

9to5Mac has dug up several images from the latest iOS 5.1 beta that details the number of cores. In the hidden panel, single-core A4s are referred as “/cores/core.0″ while dual-core A5s are “/cores/core.1″, and now a listing, “/cores/core.3″ popped up. After some simple counting, this should indicate a CPU that has four cores. However, this doesn’t mean that Apple is planning to incorporate quad-core A6 chips, as Apple loves to put misleading details in their firmwares. Although that is usually true, it is logical to presume that a quad-core iPhone or iPad will hit us one day. Perhaps after the Meizu MX get’s a quad-core CPU?
