And here it is! Today, Apple has just announced the next-generation iPad. The 9.7-inch beauty has a 2048 x 1536, making it a “Retina Display“, along with a new A5X processor and a quad-core graphic chip. Apple’s claiming that this is 4 times more powerful than the Tegra 3, and we’ll be confirming if that’s true soon. Also updated is the camera; the rear camera is now 5 megapixels along with a backside illuminated sensor with a five element lens. The camera can also record 1080p videos, although we’re not too big on recording videos with an iPad. Furthermore, the iPad can act as a WiFi hotspot along with LTE capabilities. Yup, it’s finally here. It can do both LTE and HSPA+, depending on what your network supports. Now here’s a surprise: battery life is still to be expected at 10 hours, which justifies the slight increase in weight and thickness.
You’ll be able to pick one up on March 16 (or pre-order now) starting at $499 for the 16GB WiFi model up to $829 for the 64GB 4G-ready model, only if you’re in one of these countries: US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. The rest of you will have to wait until March 23rd.
Editorial: It looks like our predictions was pretty good. We’ve basically got most of it except the new processor name and the 5-megapixel camera.
