The Apple Experience: When you buy an iPhone, you aren`t just buying an iPhone

When you buy an iPhone, you aren’t just buying an iPhone – it’s not JUST a convenient multimedia device. Yes, with the premium iPhone, you get Siri (your humble assistant), an amazing camera, FaceTime, a Retina Display and thousands of App selection. But that’s not all. You buy into receiving superior customer service and much more! You get the Apple Experience. The iPhone is a symbol.

Of Luxury. Wealth. Visionary. Life-style.

The Apple Experience is a religious one You receive an exclusive ticket into the Apple ecosystem – a social status to help you fit in or perhaps even go to Heaven. You must know someone who owns an iPhone. Apple provides a familiar culture to users unlike others. The product is associated with creativity and the exclusive subculture.

There’s many great Android phones out there but for an average consumer, the iPhone is the one that you can be comfortable buying. You might get less choice by buying an iPhone in terms of customization when it is compared to Android phones but the iPhone just works and you can get the job done. Unlike most BlackBerry smartphones, you have probably fiddled with your friends’ iPod Touch or iPhone and had some fun with it. It is simple and easy to use. If you buy the latest iPhone it is going to be the best and most up-to-date iPhone. You would be insured that it is just as good as any other iPhone out of the thousands. There are plenty of exciting new Android and Windows smartphones on the market but the many choices can just be confusing and overwhelming. It is much simpler to just choose an iPhone because you know exactly what’s coming.

Moreover, there are much more accessories for the iPhone more than any other individual phone out there. If you want the most unique case, there are thousands to choose from – people will even buy an iPhone to compliment the case that they like. With audio docks or headphones designed for the iPhone, you can almost be certain that it will work for the next iPhone and the variety is almost endless. In fact, there are even lens attachments available for your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s camera! If you don’t have an iPhone, you have probably considered buying one because you appreciate some of the amazing cases that people have designed for the iPhone.

The iPhone is not just a product. It comes bundled with an experience – a familiar feel. The North American consumer electronic market is surrounded by many Apple products. It is the same reason you don’t just go to Starbucks for coffee – you pay the premium to feel the comfort that you will almost know exactly what drink you will get when you ask for it. After all, you pay your premium for the immersion experience. Well if you don’t like the experience or the product, the iPhone is not the One for you. But whether its the iPhone 4s or the mysterious iPhone 5, it is the perfect device that many people crave for.

If you still don’t get the picture:

“Yup, if you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone.”

If you’re bored and you are looking for a little drama in your life, walk into the Apple store or a high-end department store and whip out an Android phone or a rugged old phone into the store. Wave it around as you talk naturally and watch people’s eyes. Sense judgement. I did this in IFC Hong Kong’s Apple store and I got a few glares.

  • Yikes…

This article lists many of the reasons that I chose NOT to get an iPhone. Buying a phone for the “social status”? Honestly.

Yes. People buy Maserati’s, Lambourghini’s, BMW’s, Audi’s and many other luxury goods for social status.

The iPhone is those goods. You can say the same about buying 50″ TV’s, backyard pools and concert tickets.

    Luxury. Status. Society. Sub-culture. Wealth.

The iPhone is a symbol – whether you like it or not.

Use any old Nokia in your nearest wealthiest high-end shopping mall and talk to the staff while waving the antique in your hands. Then, look at the staff’s eyes. Judgement? You tell me.

My experiences tell me I’m not in the club.

I think what’s missing from your article is mention of the other parts of the Apple ecosystem, namely the iPad, iPod, Apple TV, iMac and MacBook-series. What really got me ‘hooked’ onto Apple’s products – after many, many years of Windows PCs and Nokia phones – is how well and easy they all integrate. I can access my photos, music, e-mails and – with Mountain Lion around the corner – my documents from any device without having to do anything special. Sure, many other brands and platforms are more configurable, you can perhaps swap out the battery and perhaps they are even faster, but none has to same, fully immerse ecosystem that Apple offers.

wow you are just adding to the hype. i love my iPhone, but it’s just a phone. you’re playing into exactly what apple wants you to think. the iPhone is only 200 dollars with a new contract, the same as most other phones on the market. perhaps you should have backed your article up with more solid facts, than hyperboles. to compare it as a “religious” experience is a serious statement. i can’t tell if this article is supposed to be satirical or not.
