
Just a moment ago, Tim Cook made his first keynote as Apple’s new CEO. We all had been expecting an iPhone 5. Instead, Senior Vice President Phil Schiller showed off an iPhone 4S which is heading toward the U.S., Canada, Australia, UK, France, Germany and Japan on October 14th. Most other countries receive the new phone on October 28. Along with the new iPhone 4S an iPod touch was announced.
Key specs for the new phone as follows:
- A5 processor, twice as fast as the A4 chip in the current iPhone 4
- Dual graphic processors, providing 7 times the performance of iPhone 4
- 8 MP camera with a compact standard f/2,4 optics and a newly developed processor (73% more light sensitive, 33% faster than previously). Also, IR-filter for natural colors and better white balance
- 1080p video recording with image stabilizing and background noise reduction
- Advanced voice control throughout iOS 5 with the voice “Siri”
- A 64 GB option(!)
- AirPlay mirroring; both TV and iPhone display video, even wirelessly
- HSDPA+ (14,4 Mbps) and CDMA compatible and relocation of antennae
Available from $199-399 with carriers in the U.S. Apple promised cheaper iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 8 GB from launch date of the 4S.
